Stenchwort [1] is the common name given to plants and flowers of the Stapelia genus. Stenchworts are a staple in the current controversy among supporters of the feuding theories of darwinian evolution (DE), ussherian creationism (UC), and intelligent design (ID). In particular the species Stapelia barbarii blooms around the time of Halloween. Like many stinkworts it was used by medieval witches and sorcerers to conjure visions facilitated by its paranasal powers. Frequently, it was alleged that emanations from the flowers elicited the presence of metallic beings which thrived on devouring corpses.
