Stefansson Island

Stefansson Island is a Canadian arctic island in Nunavut, Canada. Located at 73°20'N 105°45'W, it has an area of 4,463 km² (1,723 square miles) in size, making it the 128th largest island in the world, and Canada's 27th largest island. The island has shores on both Viscount Melville Sound to the north and the M'Clintock Channel to the east. It lies just off Victoria Island's Storkerson Peninsula, separated therefrom by the Goldsmith Channel. Stefansson Island's greatest elevation is 290 m.
The island is named after the Canadian explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson (1879-1962).
