Stefan Rothe

Stefan Rothe (born August 8, 1981) is a German semi-professional road bicycle racer.
Originally from Dresden, Germany, Rothe moved to the USA in 2003 after receiving a cycling scholarship from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He started with cycling already back in 1992, inspired by the Olympic Games held in Barcelona Spain that year. After racing with the RSV Dresden and DSC 1898 e.V. as a junior and U23 racer, Rothe made the move to the USA to pursue a Bachelor's Degree and continue cycling. In 2005 he placed 5 times in the Top 4 of UCI races in Central America, including a second place in Stage 4 at the Vuelta a El Salvador. At the beginning of the 2006 season, Rothe finished on the podium at the Collegiate World Championships [1]held in Antwerp, Belgium. He won a total of 11 USCF races in the 2006 season. Rothe will ride for the Champion Systems Professional Cycling Team[2] in multiple UCI races in Asia during December '06 and January '07. He's planning to return to the US Racing Scene in 2007 with the Mercy Cycling Team.
