Stefan Nystrand

Stefan Nystrand (born October 20, 1981 in Haninge) is a freestyle and butterfly swimmer from Sweden. Nystrand, a short course (25m) specialist, has won five individual medals in the FINA Short Course World Championships, and captured his first medal (silver) in long course (50m) in the 100m Freestyle at the European LC Championships 2006 in Budapest, behind Filippo Magnini of Italy.

Nystrand has also competed at the Olympic Games, in 2000 and 2004, and his best placing at the Games is the fourth place he got at the 50 metre freestyle event, 0.06 seconds behind South African medallist Roland Schoeman. He is currently ranked third on the all time ranking for 50m Freestyle Short Course with his 21.15 second swim at the 2001 European Short Course Championships in Antwerp.
