Stefán Karl Stefánsson (born July 10, 1975 in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland) is an Icelandic film and stage actor who is best known for playing the character Robbie Rotten on the television show LazyTown.

When Stefánsson was twelve, he made his first appearance on stage as a guard in Robin Hood. He is a well-known performer in Iceland and has starred in many plays, also appearing in a few films.

He currently lives in Iceland with his wife, Icelandic actress, author and former TV-host Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir, and has two daughters.

Many children's program reviewers have commented on his funny, high calibre acting as Robbie Rotten in LazyTown. Moreover, his screenplay contributions are seen as a significant part of the show's success.

  • Stefánsson enjoys collecting vintage cars, playing the accordion, piano, and drums. He also loves playing Robbie Rotten on Lazy Town.
  • He played Glanni Glæpur on stage in Magnus Scheving's play "Glanni Glæpur í Latibær" five years before appearing in LazyTown.
  • Stefan runs an organization supporting bullied children called Rainbow Children. Stefan hopes to see the organization grow bigger and come to the US.
  • Stefan spent the summer of 2006 as the lead singer of a popular Icelandic pop band "Stuðmenn."
  • Stefan recently gave a very successful lecture (November 7 2006) on bullying for children and parents in Iceland. It was broadcast via internet into all participant schools. Close to 20,000 viewers watched the lecture simultaneously. [citation needed]
