Steenwerck

Steenwerck is a town in the French region Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Arrondissement Dunkirk. It is located about 25 km north of Lille and as of 2003 has a population of 3,260. The town area is 27.47 km².
Since 1967 the town is twinned with Hemer, Germany.
is home to the 100 km à pied de Steenwerck marathon which features a traditional marathon, and a 100 km marathon, although most local residents prefer to merely walk one lap (roughly 27 km).
Steenwerck also has its own giant, as is tradition "au nord," which is named Totor and is one of the tallest, measuring 5.70 km.
Other places of interest include the Musée de la Vie Rurale as well as the Trois Abres Cemetery and Grand Beaumart Cemetery of the First World War.
