Steam Brewing Company is a microbrewery located in Otahuhu, Auckland. It was founded in October, 1995 as the brewery for the Cock & Bull brewpub in East Tamaki, and currently brews beers for the Cock & Bull chain of taverns, as well as the retail beer Epic Pale Ale and several contracted beers including TaaKawa Ale[1] and beers for the Loaded Hog bars.[2]

The original East Tamaki location was sold in 2003, and by 2005, Cock & Bull had opened a chain of 5 taverns. In 2004, Steam Brewing Company purchased Auckland Breweries to meet increased production demands. The Auckland Breweries plant's bottling line allowed Steam Brewing Company to enter the retail beer market.[2] In 2006, Steam Brewing Company began the process of rebranding itself as Epic Brewing Company.[3]

Epic Pale Ale was named Supreme Winner at the 2006 New Zealand International Beer Awards.[5]
