[edit] Windows key article
Hi Starion,
I overall like your modifications to the Windows key article (except for a certain "excess of pedagogy", so to speak, as in "can perform certain functions... this functions are explained...", etc.). Anyway, there's one thing I consider more important: saying that the Windows key "also" acts as a modifier may make it appear as if this function were secondary. IMHO, they are the primary functions, with opening the Start Menu being just one of the n+1 actions it can perform. IOWs I would rather say that it can *also* be used alone :) BTW, the Start Menu can also be invoked with CTRL+ESC, but you can't use, for instance, CTRL+ESC+F instead of WinKey+F. Thus its standalone function has a replacement. Its role as a modifier does not. --Gennaro Prota 00:04, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

- Ok :) Please, consider that the article is mainly aimed at beginners, but should anyway keep an encyclopaedic tone. Also, the fact that we point to the Microsoft site for detailed explanations is intentional, as you can see from my comments on the talk page. BTW, I already rewrote the whole article recently in response to the fact that an editor added "It was introduced after Windows 95 was released". That was obvious to me because the article said the key is only present on 104-key keyboards and above, but of course he didn't know that. So I reworded it to follow the "reverse path": I said it was introduced with Windows 95 and that this marked the passage from 101-key keyboards onward :) BTW, what time is it on your side? It is 3:50 am here :) I was working on a major update to the punctuation article and lost all the work (about three hours) because of a faulty Firefox extension. --Gennaro Prota 01:52, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. I'll remember. The time is 1808 where I live. It is nighttime. Sorry to hear that your browser crashed. I hope Firefox is working now. --Starionwolf 02:09, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Little Mermaid revisions
Hi, thanks for your comment! You're more than welcome to work on the page with what info you already know (or watch the movie again...always a good excuse...). Right now I'm working primarily on the style of the article to make it more wiki-appropriate, but it wouldn't hurt to do some fact-checking and add information if necessary. --Marysunshine 04:48, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi,
Thanks for the message. I'm glad you liked the article and thank you for your offer to help in it. Your contribution will be certainly welcome.
By the way, what this article still lacks is actually references. (But I'm afraid I'll have to look for the sources I used myself when I wrote the article.)

Thanks for your kind comment on my talk page. I'm doing much better than just a week ago. I have found WP to be a much more pleasant place to have productive fun than just about anywhere else on-line and I've been dawdling about and working on-line since the late 70s! Also, I'm glad I came to your talk page to learn about VandalProof. I'll check out that page next. Ande B 23:23, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Carola etc.
Dear Starionwolf,
Please be informed that I prefer much less formal style in user pages, I hope you will not be offended. First of all, your English is on a rather high level from I gathered from the message you left me, and I see you have an impressive collection of languages that you speak - I must say I envy you. My knowledge of English is also limited, as I am not an native English speaker, but I am almost sure "received" is spelt that way. I hope you did not take offence, I make a lot of spelling and other language mistakes and people correct me all the time (which is both good and bad, as I shouldn't have made them - mistakes, not people - in the first place).
May I ask you, what is you mother tongue (mine is Polish, as you can infer rom my user page), and why would you say that you have a hard time learning English?
Regards,
Bravada, talk - 19:08, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
PS. I am sorry that my user page is so genderly ambigious, I never thought that it is that important to display personal details like this prominently there. I also came here from an automotive community to edit automotive articles mostly, and in this community everybody is assumbed to be male anyway (be it correctly or not). We also address each other informally, so this is not that much of an issue.
- Hi, sorry for the late reply. I didn't have time to write back. I learned English and Chinese when I was a kid. But I forgot Chinese. I guess I have a hard time learning English because I learned Chinese or got confused. I didn't understand the grammar and spelling of English when I was in school. I am trying to learn the grammar again. Bye. --Starionwolf 04:39, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] One Hundred and One Dalmatians
Can you clarify the edit summary "It is not needed any more"?? Georgia guy 22:30, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- I can put it back if you want. Before, typing the same phrase redircets the user to the animated movie. Currently, typing 101 Dalmations redirects to the Live Action Movie. Please excuse me because I'm new and my English is bad.

- I don't know what's going on. I just reverted the my change. Cheers. --Starionwolf 22:39, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello,
Thanks very much for fixing the Betty Reynolds Cobb entry. I usually try to avoid that kind of ambiguity, but I guess I got a wee bit complacent there. Cheers! --Folajimi 02:56, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

- Hi, do you want me to move the template, or delete it completely? I can move the template to the main article if you desire. Bye. -- Starionwolf 03:01, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- If there's a way to tweak the template to resolve the disambiguation, that would be splendid. I can see the confusion which may be created when making references to Georgians; but I'd only bury it if all other options fail. Cheers. --Folajimi 03:20, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I see your concern. The article is listed in "Wikipedia requested photographs in Europe." Let me look around for some options or ideas. --Starionwolf 03:31, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Newbie or vandal?
User:Mrsanitazier could indeed be a sockpuppet of User:Mrknowitman but accusing him won't have the desired effect. Have you tried getting someone's attention from Wikipedia:Clueless newbies? Has he been welcomed yet? - Mgm|(talk) 11:00, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- I tried welcoming him and giving him advice, but he's not listening. I'll go take a look at Clueless newbies. Thanks for the link. I didn't Wikipedia had a section called Clueless newbies. Bye. --Starionwolf 18:20, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Catorce
Hello! You are receiving this message because you participated in the deletion of a vanity article about Catorce, an improv troupe in Phoenix Arizona.
As an objective Wikipedian attempting to chronicle notable figures in Arizona music, comedy, and improv, I decided to take on the peculiar project of ressurecting the Catorce page, but now with more criteria for notability (which is difficult, since there aren't guidelines for improv groups like there are for bands and musicians) and an objective POV.
I am inviting you to come visit the page and leave comments.

[edit] VfD for Gape shot
I have nominated Gape shot, the proposed deletion of which you supported in an older revision, for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gape shot. The addition by the person who removed the Proposed deletion notice consists of a list of "Movies containing this fetish" and a "See also" link to Goatse.cx which, as I explain in the nomination, do not redeem the article. —Centrx→Talk 04:23, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

In the future, please check an article's history for vandalism before adding a {{prod2}} tag to it. A prod added to an article in a vandalized state will be assumed to be in error and will be reverted along with the vandalism. --Pascal666 04:47, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chaka (The Lion King)
I've recently blocked Mrsanitazier for a 3RR vio on this article (specifically regarding the afd notices). Removing afd notices is vandalism, so you are not in subject to 3RR in this situation, but you may want to aviod this article for the next 24 hours just to be on the safe side. — xaosflux Talk 22:57, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] VandalProof login failiure
Hi Aeropagitica, I don't know if you saw my message on the VP message board. You need to download VandalProof 121.exe from the download page. You need version 1.2.1. Just copy the new .exe over the old one. Bye --Starionwolf 04:24, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalise?
I am confused by a message you sent me in which you accused me of repeatedly "vandalising" the Bambi II Article. I am not sure what you're talking about, so I would very much appreciate some clarification. The only thing I did that I can think of which might be seen as vandalism was to edit a "viewer quote" which, you should discover if you do some quick research, was my own. I did so because, in its present wording, the quote seemed to de-humanize the Great Prince too much (granted, he's not human, but his personality is). If it is any help in contacting me, my user name for Wikipedia is Ben 10. However, I was not logged on at the time I made most of my recent edits, but I thought I'd try to make things easier. By the way, are you the one who removed the comment entirely? Is the comment itself the problem? I feel it is not, and have restored it in (to the best of my memory) its original wording. If this is a problem please let me know, especially since I have been putting anonymous opinions on various articles for some time. I have always done so while being very careful to make it clear they are only opinions, not dogma or certified fact. So far, I have had no trouble over that particular one. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.47.188.30 (talk • contribs) .
- In my opinion, technically it would fall under original research which isn't allowed on Wikipedia. Personal commentary is pretty much frowned upon as it is, by definition, unencyclopedic. Things need to maintain a neutral point of view which is pretty much impossible to maintain with personal viewpoints being thrown into the mix. My personal opinion (and that is all this is) would be to remove it. IrishGuy talk 19:29, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Date errors
You've been changing dates to American style. If you're going to do that please at least change them correctly. You made many errors in at least 2006 United States E. coli outbreak and Spinach. Please go back and fix them. —Quarl (talk) 2006-09-21 02:16Z
- Hi, I do not see any errors when I view the page. The dates I see are in yyyy-mm-dd format. I was editing the dates per Wikipedia's Manual of style. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers) Perhaps you have the date preferences in your options setting set to "No preference"? You can change the format to yyyy-mm-dd format if you do not wish to see mm-dd-yyyy. --Starionwolf 02:46, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I see your point. I think I misread the manual page. Sorry. I'll try to reverse the changes. --Starionwolf 02:50, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I do have date preferences set and I do see YYYY-MM-DD when I'm logged in. Sorry if I was unclear. The main thing I am concerned with is your changes that made the dates incorrect, e.g. 2006-09-19 to September 9, 2006 [2] or 2006-08-02 to August 8, 2006 [3]. I assume these were accidental errors and not intentional date changes. —Quarl (talk) 2006-09-21 05:21Z
