Template talk:Stargate Races

i doubt whether the system lords and the tok'ra ought to be considered different races. 213.235.241.194

Good point. They're basically the same, genetically speaking. Problem is that the Tok'ra and the Goa'uld consider themselves different from one another, and thus would be considered more factions than anything else. However, by adding, say, a factions template, you add confusion to the Wikiuser who and another level of complexity that isn't necessary IMO. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. 21:29, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Given the title of this template is Major Races and Factions of the Stargate Universe, I think there's a lot of content that doesn't really belong. Anything that isn't considered a "major race or faction" can still viewed using Stargate groups and Stargate races categories. I won't make any changes until I recieve some input. -b 20:30, 5 August 2005 (UTC), -b 20:36, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

  • Re'ol - These can hardly be considered a major race, since they only appear in once episode, and are referenced in only one other.
  • Harcesis - I doubt this could be considered a race or faction...and even if it could, it's hardly major.
  • Gadmeer - Same deal, one episode doesn't mean it's a major race.
  • Re'tu & Unas - Pushing it, but at least they're continued over multiple episodes.
  • Genii - Why the Genii but not the Athosians?
  • Linvers - Not so major...
  • Zatarc - "This is not a planetary species, but the designation for a member of any species who has been subjected to Goa'uld mind-control technology and subconsciously programmed to kill, with their recollection of the procedure covered by false memories." From SciFi, enough said.

Agreed. Deleting. --Peter Farago 03:49, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

The Ori aren't the Alteraans? Editing back. -b 17:03, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Template standardisation

There is an active debate on template standardisation going on the Stargate Wikiproject page. -b 19:20, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] tok'ra are goa'uld?

i know they dont like the fact, but they ARE!! they should be in the goa'uld row.-- Alfakim --  talk  19:33, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] suggest removal of links

  • Re'tu
  • Re'ol
  • Aschen

These are not major factions. They each appear for a maximum of 2 episodes. Suggest removal to Alien Races template. -- Alfakim --  talk  12:57, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] minor links

I don't think this template should have links to VERY minor races such as

etc. I suggest that the standard be: the race has to have appeared in at least 3 episodes, or been talked about in at least 3, or have influenced the plot significantly. --Alfakim-- talk 15:29, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alt. version

I added links to character and tech articles for some of the races, not sure if they need to be included:
