• Episode I and III both have scenes of a large command room that resembles the room in Return of the Jedi on the second death star
• Episode I has the first appearance of Jabba the Hutt chronologically
• Episode I has C3PO comment that he will never be on a starship, but is first seen in a starship in Episode IV.
• The Gungan battle against the superior droid army mirrors the battle between the primitive Ewoks and the technologically advanced Empire
• Palpatine says he looks forward to Anakin's career, which is one of the main themes of the entire series
• Jedi Master Depa Billaba has the same hairstyle as one of Princess Leia's hairstyles [1]
• The head of Nein Numb can be seen in Shmi's home on a shelf
• The pod race passes through an area mentioned in Episode IV
• A droid has "1138" on its back in episode I, and a clone trooper has "1138" on its uniform in episode III. This is a reference to THX-1138, also referenced in Episode IV and V.
• A Barada can be seen in Episode I, first seen in Episode VI on the barge
• Eight busts of droid 2-1B can be seen when Qui-gon is talking to Watto
• A landspeeder can be seen in Episode I, first seen in Episode IV
• Several Millenium Falcons are seen in Episode I [2]
• Episode I has a deleted scene with a young Rodian, possibly growing up to be Greedo in Episode IV
• Warwick Davis appears in Episode I; he played Wicket in Episode VI
• Episode I ends with the heroes being celebrated in a ceremony with rows of onlookers, who march on to a stage and are presented with a reward, facing the camera, followed by closing credits. This happens after the hero has destroyed a space station through superior piloting and attacking the station's weak spot, winning the battle, just as in Episode IV.
• Episode II foreshadows Bobba Fett's future as a bounty hunter who hunts Jedi
• Episode II provides the origin of all future clone troopers and storm troopers throughout the series
• Episode II features a princess who is more adventurous than when first seen and fights using blasters (Episode IV), and a duel against a larger alien monster after being sentenced to death (Episode VI)
• Episode III shows female Calamari performing at the opera; the Calamari Admiral Ackbar is seen in the original trilogy
• A scene in Episode III was planned to show a young Han Solo
• C3PO has the last line in Episode III, and the first line in Episode IV.

The original trilogy DVD release has several changes based on the prequel trilogy, notably Anakin's ghost being replaced with Hayden christiansen, and a Gungan yell at the end of Episode VI.
