I thought so for a long time, but Tomas Caspers pointed me to some antecedents. It has been surprisingly difficult to track the whole history of previous attestations, something I attempted for a slang-dictionary entry.

It is fair to say I popularized the term.

Someone interested in working on this article might also point out that the term standardista is often used in a pejorative, or at least ironic, sense. Persist1 00:58, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
