Statens Järnvägar, or the Swedish State Railways, was a former enterprise agency of the Swedish government. It was disbanded 2001 and the assets were transferred to six separate government owned limited companies:

  • SJ, the passenger train operator
  • Green Cargo, operates freight trains
  • Jernhusen, real estate
  • EuroMaint, train maintenance
  • Unigrid, information technology
  • TraffiCare, provides terminal services, ie train cleaning and switching
