Starved
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Starved was a television comedy on the FX Network. Eric Schaeffer created the show as well as writing, starring in, and directing it, based upon his own struggle with eating disorders. The series was based on a support group of eating disorder sufferers. It's characters included those with bulimia, anorexia, and binge eating disorder. It was a comedy genre show in which the dark humor comes from adult humor in which the characters have several problems and mishaps. Starved made its debut on August 4, 2005 to glowing critical reviews. It was the lead-in of FX's hour-long Other Side of Comedy block with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. However, the show's mix of comedy and drama (with most otherwise comedic episodes ending in a depressing music montage depicting the characters all behaving self-destructively) ended up turning away many viewers and critics. It was placed behind Always Sunny before being ultimately cancelled in October, 2005, when FX picked Always Sunny over Starved for renewal. Starved had a total of seven episodes.
