Starter may refer to
- an automobile self starter, or "starter motor"
- the person who fires a pistol or waves a flag to indicate the start of a race
- bread starter, (also called sponge) a fermented mixture used in baking sourdough
- a motor starter, or "electric motor starter" used to start large electrical motors
- a player on the starting lineup of a sports team
- a course before the main course of a meal, also known in Commonwealth English as an entrée
- a device that aids the initial production of light from a fluorescent lamp that is turned on when cold
- a starter pack in trading card games, being a deck containing enough cards to play a full game, along with a rulebook and other components to make it self-sufficient.
