Starbuck, Manitoba

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Starbuck is a small town of about 350 people in Manitoba near the La Salle River, and is located within the Rural Municipality of Macdonald.

First settled around 1870 by farmers, the railway came through in 1881.

By 1909, Starbuck was booming. Families were moving in, and a passenger train came through twice a week. There were two general stores, a blacksmith, butcher, bank and hotel.

Starbuck is about a 20 minute drive from Winnipeg, making it easy for the students of Starbuck School to go there for field trips.

With three churches, many shops, and a new development on the way, Starbuck is still booming, even though the passenger train has stopped coming through. The rink is one of the busiest places in town.

The Starbuck Communications Tower transmits the signals of CBWT, CBWFT, CBW-FM, CKSB-FM, and COOL FM to places within 100 kilometres of its location.
