The Star Trek Role Playing Game is a role-playing game based on the Star Trek universe using the Coda System rules. This version of the game was created by Decipher, Inc. in 2002. When Decipher acquired the rights to create the RPG, they also acquired most of the gaming studio from Last Unicorn Games, despite this, the system is very dissimilar to the one they published. Instead, the system is very much like Wizards of the Coast's D20, but using 2D6 to resolve actions. The following books have been released for the game so far:
- Book 1: Star Trek Role Playing Game Player's Guide (2002)
- Book 2: Star Trek Role Playing Game Narrator's Guide (2002)
- Book 3: Starfleet Operations Manual (2003)
- Book 4: Starships (2003)
- Book 5: Aliens (2003)
- Book 6: Creatures (2003)
- Supplement: Star Trek Narrator's Screen (2003)
- Worlds (PDF Only 2005)
- Mirror Universe: Through a Glass Darkly (PDF Only 2005)
There are several more books planned to come out after this, including those based on Klingons, The Mirror Universe, Diplomats, and Traders. Unfortunately, Decipher was forced to close down their RPG studio before those books were published, so even though they were written a couple years ago those books haven't yet been released. However, the future is starting to look up now as Decipher has recently shown a renewed interest in their RPGs, releasing a couple digital copies of the missing books, and starting to support their World Wide Campaign (the Star Trek: The Continuing Missions campaign that's being setup right now, and should have more information published on it soon).
