Stanway is a village near (now suburb of) Colchester.
Stanway is located approximately 3 miles west of Colchester town centre. Colchester Zoo, Stanway (Comprehensive) School, Tollgate shopping complex and the Co-operative retail development are among prominent local amenities. The local football team is Stanway Rovers, based at New Farm Road. Stanway was named in the Domesday Book which was commissioned by William the Conqueror in December 1085.
