Stannous fluoride

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stannous fluoride (SnF2) is commonly used in toothpaste to protect tooth enamel from attack by bacteria, similar to sodium fluoride. it was the first fluoride used for that purpose, in the toothpaste Crest.

Stannous fluoride can be used with abrasives that contain calcium, which prevents sodium fluoride from being effective.

Stannous fluoride is commonly found as a white powder.
