Stanley Spadowski

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stanley Spadowski is a fictional character in the 1989 movie UHF. He was portrayed by Michael Richards.

Stanley originally worked as a janitor for the big-time network, Channel 8, led by the ruthless R.J. Fletcher (Kevin McCarthy). Early in the film, Stanley is fired by Fletcher for incompetence. Luckily, he bumps into George Newman ("Weird Al" Yankovic), who has become the new owner of channel 62, a UHF(Ultra-High Frequency) station. George offers Stanley a job, and Stanley gladly accepts.

Later in the film, George suffers a breakdown and leaves his children's show, "Uncle Nutsy's Clubhouse," mid-episode. On his way out the door, he offers the job to Stanley, who accepts - once he confirms that he can still be the janitor as well. "Stanley Spadowski's Clubhouse" quickly (within one episode) becomes the highest-rated show on the station and soon makes the station number 1 on the ratings.
