Stanley F. Battle

Dr. Stanley F. Battle (born 1951) has been, since 2003, the president of Coppin State University. In November 2006, he was named the new chancellor of North Carolina A&T State University. [1]

Dr. Battle earned a bachelor’s in sociology from Springfield College in 1973, an M.S.W. from the University of Connecticut in 1975, an M.P.H. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979, and a Ph.D. from Pittsburgh in 1980. He also attended Harvard University’s Institute for Educational Management in 2002. Prior to assuming his post at Coppin, Dr. Battle served as Vice Chancellor of Student and Multicultural Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he managed a budget of $230 million and a staff of over 500. Previously, he was the Sullivan-Spaights Distinguished Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1998-2001); associate vice president for academic affairs at Eastern Connecticut State University (1993-1998); and associate dean for research and development at the University of Connecticut (1991-1993).
