Stanley is a city in Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. On May 20, 2002, the city annexed a portion of land in the Town of Thorp in Clark County.

Stanley is located at GR1.
(44.961277, -90.938528)Accord to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.2 km² (3.6 mi²). 9.1 km² (3.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (1.40%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,898 people, 817 households, and 483 families residing in the city. The population density was 208.8/km² (541.1/mi²). There were 900 housing units at an average density of 99.0/km² (256.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.74% White, 0.11% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.26% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.26% of the population.
There were 817 households out of which 26.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.8% were non-families. 38.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.96.
In the city the population was spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 25.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 84.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $27,644, and the median income for a family was $41,964. Males had a median income of $27,900 versus $21,607 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,421. About 4.0% of families and 8.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.8% of those under age 18 and 11.2% of those age 65 or over.

Students residing in Stanley and the neighboring village of Boyd can, depending on the student's grade level, become enrolled in Stanley-Boyd Elementary School, Stanley-Boyd Middle School, or Stanley-Boyd High School. The high school has an enrollment of 325 students. For interscholastic events, Stanley-Boyd High School is a member of the WIAA, and are in the Large Cloverbelt and East Cloverbelt Conference.
