Stan Stokes

Stan Stokes is a third generation native Californian who is currently in his 38th year as a full time artist.
In 1985, Stan won first place in the Smithsonian national Air and Space Museum's "Golden Age of Flight" Art competition.
In 2004, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library commissioned Stan to paint a 120 Foot long by 12 foot tall painting entitled "The History of the Flying White House" depicting 22 aircraft telling the history of presidential flight. This is now on display in the new Air Force One Pavilion at the Library. Stan had previously painted a 16 foot long by 7 foot tall painting of the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan that is on display in the Legacy Room of th Library.
The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library has on display a painting by Stokes of the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush and Stan has just finished a second painting for the Library that was requested by Barbara Bush. It puts the viewer right behind a Super Hornet on final approach for a landing on the carrier. On the fantail of the carrier, you can clearly read " George H.W. Bush".

Stan is currently working on a book honoring the Tuskegee Airmen. The book will have aleast 40 paintings by Stokes and will be out in 2007.
