[edit] Hassay's Past
Greg Hassay is a tough man and a professional soldier. Hassay is an abrupt sergeant that served with Captain Baker, Sgt.Matt Baker's father. Hassay enlisted in 1930 and by 1939 was a full Sergeant. He was eventually moved to England with the rest of his unit to train for the initial invasion of Normandy, "Operation Overlord." He probably got promoted to Staff Sergeant little before training for the D-Day invasion, and was the Platoon Sergeant for the 3rd platoon of Fox Company in the 101st Airborne and he was rifle and machine gun trainer. His favorite motto was "Shoot first: it pisses the enemy off long enough to make the second shot count!"
[edit] Hassay's Platoon
At no point during D-Day did Hassay have his full Platoon which would have included three squads plus Pfc.Leggett as radio operator. During the first few days of the operation Hassay led many scattered soldiers of his platoon leaving most of them under Sergeant Matt Baker, and taking the rest with him. He was always followed by Pfc.Leggett, until he died on Hill 30. It is not known who was the real leader of that platoon, but the officer that truly led it was probably killed on a plane.
[edit] Brothers in Arms
Throughout Earned in Blood,Hassay's and the second squad's story is told by Hartsock to Army historian S.L.A. Marshall. The first half of the story tells about missions that happened in between the normal missions in Road to Hill 30. Due to the terrible misdrops the airborne suffered Hassay was often stuck with members of all squads, with missing and dead men. The first man he met just after he dropped was Baker, then Leggett. He was forced to cooperate with some men from the other squads until after the battle of Hill 30, which lead to some organisation in the squads' formations. This was mostly due to the fact that almost all of the platoon's sergeants were killed during the drop. He distinguished himself on Hill 30, where he gathered all the men that were left of his platoon and with those few men, held the line. He was badly wounded during a German counter-attack on the city of Carentan, where a rifle bullet went in and out his stomach. He managed to survive. Overall, he is present in almost every mission giving orders to the few men left after the misdrops of D-Day and is a fierce soldier and tough leader. After Leggett's death, who was his trusty radio man for so much time, he didn't demonstrate any sadness or rage and just really didn't feel bad about him dying.
[edit] Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Hassay will be in Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.
[edit] Misc. Info
Hassay is most often seen in the games using the M1A1 Thompson from the early stages of D-Day to the later stages of the battle of Normandy.
