St Mary Magdalene Gardens

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St Mary Magdalene Gardens on Holloway Road in Islington, London, are the old burial ground of St Mary Magdalene Church. Some tomb stones still bear witness to these early times. However, the grounds were transformed into a public space at the end of the 19th century, which now is a space appreciated by many for recreation and leisure activities.

Although belonging to the church, the gardens are maintained by the Islington Greenspace and Leisure Team, who manage Islington's parks and open spaces.

A group Friends of St Mary Magdalene Gardens was set up in 2005 by different parties, including Islington Council, local residents and members of the church to discuss the future use and development of the park.
