St Francis Rangers F.C.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St Francis Rangers F.C. are a football club based in Haywards Heath, England. They were established in 2002 after a merger between Ansty Rangers F.C. and St Francis F.C. They are currently members of the Sussex County Football League Division Two.

The club achieved senior status, after being guided by Mickey Jewell to a runners up position and gaining promotion from Division 3 in 2004. Rangers consolidated their position as the most senior team in Haywards Heath and after Mickey Jewell left in 2005 he was replaced by his former assistant, Danny Bryan. The new manager continued the success of the club by leading his team to promotion last season (2006), which meant the club had secured their 2nd promotion in only 3 seasons. However the club was prevented from taking its place in the top division in Sussex, because the floodlights were not erected in time! After a lot of hardwork by the committee, supporters and some players, the club now have the floodlights in place and will be looking to build on last seasons success and take their rightfull place in the top flight.

Danny Bryan has combined local young and talented players, into a squad that should be capeable of securing a successful era at the club. The majority of the squad are based in Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill which means they have a good spirit and in the last few seasons have really started to gell. St Francis Rangers benefited hugely from the demise, of local rivals Franklands Village FC. After a successful season at FVFC (Mid Sussex Senior Cup Winners and Sussex Intermediate Cup Runners Up), it was decided that club could no longer afford to compete in the county league and dropped into Mid Sussex Football. Many of today's successful first team began playing men's football at Franklands Village including:

Phil Gault, Elliott Butler, Simon Lehkyj, Dan O'Farrell and Chris Maynard.

When combined with the qaulity of players such as:

Mark Enticknap, John White Peter Aylett, Olly Day, Rob Cooper and Sam Jerimiah this is one of the best young squads in the county.

We just hope that the squad can maintain their progress and eventually reach County 1 Football...
