St Baglan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
St Baglan (fifth century) was a follower of St Illtyd.
St Baglan is said to be a Breton prince who studied at St Illtyd's school at Llantwit Major following which he was sent to work as a Christian missionary in west Wales. He founded a church at Baglan which is named after him.
There may also have been another saint of the same name who lived around the same time but details of this second saint have not survived.
Several churches in Wales were dedicated to St Baglan including the church at Llanfaglan as well as in Baglan itself.
