St. Xavier's Collegiate School

St. Xavier's Collegiate School was established in 1860 in Kolkata for the education of Catholic boys by the missionaries from the Society of Jesus. The school has long admitted students of any religious belief.

The school session is from April to March. Thursday is the normal weekly holiday. Students may choose to follow either the ICSE or Madhyamik curriculum till class, i.e. grade 10. In grades 11 and 12, however, they must follow the ISC curriculum, but may choose to study either Science or Commerce.

The school is associated with St. Xavier's College, Calcutta. It's many teachers include Mr.Anindya Majumdar( Maths ), Mr. Bijan Ganguly( Physics). The institution is currently led by Father Jerome, and prefect, Father Boris.

The school has many well known alumni including Sourav Ganguly and Jyoti Basu. It is said that Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore briefly studied here although he did not quite enjoy formal education.
