St. Stephen's High School, Manila, Philippines

St. Stephen's High School is situated in Guillermo Masangkay Street in the Binondo district of Manila, Philippines. It is a very conservative Episcopalian school, run by Chinese Christians.
It was founded in the 1917 by an American reverend and his wife. The first class of the school was held in the living room of the reverend with 22 girls. It was first founded as an all-girls school, but after the World War II, the school began accepting boys as students.
Its mission is to provide excellent quality education to the learners based on Christian principles. SSHS envisions itself to be a school after God's own heart and to be a lighthouse in the community.
The school offers courses of study from Pre-Nursery to High School 4. It has more than 3,000 students in all departments.
It has varsity teams in swimming, volleyball, track and field, table tennis and basketball. The school also excels in Math, Science, Computer, English, Music, and Arts and has won in both national and international competitions in any of the said fields. The school has 2 student councils - the Elementary Student Council and the Committee of Student Activities or CSA in the high school department.
It has recently inaugurated its newly renovated auditorium - The Auditorium at St. Stephen's High School - on November 23, 2006. Plans for development include the construction of a sports complex, administrative building and cafeteria, renovation of the Bolderston Hall (H.S. Lobby) and the opening of the school's college department.
The school will be celebrating its historic 90th founding anniversary on July 22, 2007.
