St. Joseph's School

St. Joseph's College (School Department) is a Government Aided private school ("public school" in British terminology ) run by Jesuit Fathers in Darjeeling, India. The school is known for its academic tradition, excellence in sports, quality of value education and alumni. Father Henry Depelchin founded the school in 1888. The famous Kanchenjunga mountain range forms the scenic backdrop to the school. The school and the college of the same name are popularly known as the "North Point".A school rich in tradition , it was also called "The Harrow of the East".Its ex-students include World Champion billiards player Micheal Ferriera, the deceased King of Nepal , and the present King of Bhutan among others.Its student body boasts an international identity.The School is currently experiencing a renaissance under the headmastership of an old boy Fr. Kinley Dorjii ,S.J.C.who has revived some lost traditions and is revamping the school for a more modernistic approach to education.
