St. Joseph's Boys' School

St. Joseph's Boys' School is a secondary school in Westway in the Creggan area of Derry, Northern Ireland. It is operated by the Western Education and Library Board.

It was founded in 1963. The school has gone through numerous changes with the most recent opened in March 2003. Principal of the school is Mr P. Hannaway with the vice principal being Miss K. Doherty. There are heads of each department for English, Maths, Geography, History, Languages, Science, Technology and Design, Art and Physical Education (P.E) with a special one set up for special needs and a head of 6th formers.

Two specialized units are located in the school. The Suspension Unit serves students who have been internally suspended, and Education +, a unit which was set up in 2003, serves students who cannot be taught properly in class.

In 2006 England goalkeeping legend, Gordon Banks paid a visit to the school. There, he delivered a speech and promoted his new book "A Hero Who Could Fly" and did a bit of coaching with Eugene Ferry.
