St. Joe State Park

St. Joe State Park is located in Park Hills, Missouri. It used to be a large producer of lead ore until 1972 when St. Joe Minerals Corp stopped running its operations. In 1976, the land was donated to the state of Missouri and was turned into a state park. When visiting St. Joe State Park, you will still see the historic mining buildings that were used mine the lead ore. You can tour their museum where you will see artifacts and mining equipment that was onced used. It is now a historic Missouri mine.
The actual park is roughly 8,200 acres with 2,000 of those acres including an off-road vehicle riding area has been set aside for the state's premier ORV riding area. Riders from all over come to enjoy ORV trails, sand piles, and jumps.
The park has 2 campgrounds for campers with ORV's and horses. It also has hiking, bicycling, and horse trails. There are pavilions and picnic sites, along some some lakes that you can swim or fish in.
