Stéphane Denève

Stéphane Denève (born 1971) is a French conductor. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire. His early work as a conducting assistant included assignments with Sir Georg Solti for Bluebeard’s Castle with the Orchestre de Paris in 1995 and for Don Giovanni at the Paris National Opera in 1996. He was also assistant to Georges Prêtre for Turandot at the Paris National Opera in 1997, and to Seiji Ozawa for Dialogues des Carmélites at the Saito Kinen Festival in 1998.
In the USA, Denève has made appearances with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra[1] and the National Symphony Orchestra (Washington, DC)[2].
In September 2005, Denève became the Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO). This is his first music directorship[3]. During his first season, he brought the RSNO to France for the first time[4]. He has also conducted the RNSO at the 2006 Proms concerts in London[5].
