SS Champlain

One of the French Line's cabin class liners, the Champlain was built in 1932, and sunk by a mine in the River Humber in 1940, one of the earliest passenger ship casualities of World War II. She was 641 feet long, 82 feet wide and registered 28,124 gross tons. She carried 623 cabin class passengers, 308 tourist class and 122 third class passengers. Powered by steam turbines, she had a cruising speed of 19 knots.
