Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, also known as SVCE, is a premier institute of Engineering in India. The college is located in Pennalur, near Chennai. Established in 1985, the college has undergone rapid progress since then.

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) is a unit of Sri Venkateswara Educational and Health Trust (SVEHT). The Trust was founded on August 1, 1984 at the behest of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal. In November 1984 the then State Government granted permission to conduct courses in Engineering leading to Bachelors Degree in Engineering in the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communicaiton Engineering and Civil Engineering, awarded by University of Madras.
The inaugural function of the college complex at Nazarathpet took place on April 8, 1985 in the presence Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal. His Excellency Sri S.L Khurana, the then Governer of Tamil Nadu inaugurated. Sri C Aranganayagam, the then Minister of Education, presided and Sri K Rajaram, the then Minister of Industries, declared open the laboratories and workshops. On August 19, 1985 Dr. C Subramanian, former Finance Minister of India, inaugurated the commencement of academic work
The major objective of this institution is to plan and implement a programme of education in Engineering and Allied Sciences, to promote research, to disseminate knowledge and to foster co-operation and exchange of ideas between the academic community and industrial organisations and to develop entrepreneurship skills among the students. It strives to achieve academic excellence along with harmonious development of the personality of the students.
The GRIHAPRAVESAM function of the new Campus was performed on 25-07-1991 with the blessings of their Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal in the presence of the former . The Campus houses a Vinayaka Temple named : "SRI VIJAYA GANAPATHY ALAYAM". The new campus was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri R. Venketaraman on 5-1-1992.
The college celebrated its decenium on 16-3-1996 and the then Honourable Minister of State for Commerce and now Finance minister for the Government of India Shri P.Chidambaram presided.

The college, established by SPIC, a prominent petro-chemical corporation in India, has been rated as a leading college in the city of Chennai. The alumni of the institution are successfully placed in several leading companies across the globe. It offers one of best course in marine engineering with facilities which are among the best in the country. Many of its students have completed Master's and Ph.D.s from prestigious universities that include University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, MIT , the University of Texas at Austin, Stanford University, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, University of Illinois at Chicago and Carnegie Mellon University. A few have also started up their own companies. On particular note are its highly resourceful alumni , infrastructure and facilities offered and wide range of accolades pursued by its growing alumni and students. SVCE is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. A BTech Degree program in Information Technology was first introduced in India by the college.
