Sri Lal Sukla

Shrilal Shukla (श्रीलाल शुक्ल) (b. 1925), is a Hindi writer notable for his satire. He also worked as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. His other works include "Umraonagar men Kuchh Din" and "Suni Ghati ka Suraj".
Shukla has highlighted the falling moral values in the Indian society in the post independence era through his novels. His writings expose the negative aspects of life in the rural and urban India in a satirical manner. His novel Raag Darbari has been translated into English (see below).
Shukla received the Sahitya Academy Award for Raag Darbari, the highest Indian literary award. The novel had also been converted into a Television Series and ran on the national network in the 80s.
He received the Vyas Samman award in 1999 for the novel "Bisrampur ka Sant".[1], [2]
