[edit] WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request
This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I may have found your page based on your contributions or your link repair user box on your user page. If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 23:17, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Old Polish units of measurement
Grzywna, Kamień, Kwarta, Skojec and Wiardunek are weight units according to the Polish Wikipedia articles linked to from the article. If you need more detailed info please specify and hold on until tomorrow, I really need to get some sleep. Please bear with me ;) Bravada, talk - 02:20, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- To be honest, I have no idea how much a pound weighs, and those ancient units of measurement are also temporally inconsistent. Excuse me for not being helpful here. Bravada, talk - 22:51, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] question about my userpage
Hi Cliff, I'm glad that I was of some help. I have a question about my userpage. I think that it's important that people understand what depression is like, because so many people have it, but I don't want to be seen as trying to get people to feel sorry for me. I've made some changes on my userpage that I hope will accomplish that. Do you think that the current wording at the top of my page works well enough? --Kyoko 14:35, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, yes. Especially after a quick read of the article. I don't even think I could have done better. (Maybe because I don't write terribly well in the first place?) — $PЯINGεrαgђ 18:35, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- OK, thanks for your reply. I wouldn't say that you write badly, at least based on our talk page exchanges. You know, you really were prescient when you posted about me ("Stress perhaps") on the Esperanza Alerts talk page. Looking back at my contributions, I guess that I had been signaling my mood at the time. I had also "said" what I wanted to do in the "Hello..." section of my page, in coded form. I'll let you see if you can figure it out. Perhaps I should change those introductory paragraphs, perhaps not. Thanks for caring. --Kyoko 19:34, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

- I was talking about my userpage, in particular the section that starts with "Hello..." Look at the first letter of each sentence above my signature. See what it spells out.

[edit] Re: In better spirits
So glad to hear that! (the header) And as for my style of writing... well, I just wish I could put something of that into a Wikipedia article, but everything I want to write on has already been done! (except for my to-do list... the moment I start uni holidays, I'll get stuck into that). Thanks dude, you cheer me right up :D — riana_dzasta wreak havoc-damage report 04:54, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

- Aye, one can hope. Alright, now I've got a lecture to bugger off to, so I'll see you around, k? Take care and keep swimmin'. — riana_dzasta wreak havoc-damage report 04:59, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stress level
Wohoo! Go friends (per wikistress meter)! Did you get the last message I left you earlier? It's the last one in your latest archive.
Riana pointed out that I'm on your people list... hooray! My second people list! Thanks for the mention :) I really should make one myself now -- you'll be on it, never fear. — Editor at Large(speak) 10:18, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- I never have any fear, I'm too macho for that! >:D Um, yeah… on the serious side, I have to say that the Wiki would be a better place if everyone had a friends' list (I myself stole the idea from RuneScape), and that I would be honoured to be on yours. — $PЯINGεrαgђ 23:07, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] about your userpage
Hi Cliff, two three things:
- while it's nice to show your patriotism on your userpage, it's not obvious where you have to click in order to proceed. If you really want to keep the flag as your entry portal, could you at least write something that tells people where to click? I know that you have the popup text hint, but you have to search for that as well, at least if you are running javascript popups (as I am). I also want to add that admins probably want to have a more accessible page than what you currently have. I'm sorry if this bothers you.
- I'm flattered that you thought highly enough of my writing to quote it. Thank you very much.--Kyoko 21:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- The table of contents on your talk page obscures part of your list of links at the top of the page. I'm not sure how to fix this in the code, short of not using a table of contents at all. Thanks again. --Kyoko 21:36, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I'll fix the flag thing. But what about the table of contents thing? I have it placed (in coding anyway, and on my computer) under the wikistress template, and the picture of me. Are you talking about the archives? — $PЯINGεrαgђ 22:49, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- Have you tried resizing the flag image? As for your talk page, it's the list of archives that gets in the way on my screen. To give you an idea, I have a 17 inch widescreen display (great for watching 16:9 DVDs), and even if I stretch the window to fill the entire screen (at 1400x900 resolution), your list of archives still overlaps part of your link directory. I don't know if it matters, but I'm running Mozilla Firefox. --Kyoko 02:20, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

-
-
-
- OK. (There are few things {{-}} can't fix.) Also, you're welcome about the userbox…I tried to make a similar one when I was a newby, but it was in the mainspace. Oops. But the credit still goes to you, and you can (as can anyone else) feel free to use any of my userboxes, when I get up and make more! — $PЯINGεrαgђ 18:56, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

- It works now, in any case. I still have to figure out how to get userboxes so that they can be inserted using {{user stuffed animals}}. If that's even possible. I guess I can just let people copy the raw code, but I would like to get it so that people can use my userbox(es) the same way as others do from the various userbox galleries. --Kyoko 23:02, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

- If you're thinking about putting it in one of the sub pages of WP:BOX, I think you can just put it in using {{User:Tachikoma/Userboxes/stuffed animals}} (I assume it's either that or something similar). For some reason, everybody has a huge problem with userboxes in the template namespace and I don't know why, but they "solved" it by moving the majority of them into the user space. Example User:MiraLuka/Userboxes/Sexuality/user female, whether it actually links to something or not. I don't understand it, but as long as userboxes are accessible, I don't care (since I subst mine anyway). — $PЯINGεrαgђ 20:08, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

-
- I don't need to list my userbox. The userbox migration was due to a desire not to have potentially POV or controversial userboxes residing within the encyclopedia section of Wikipedia. I have at least one of these POV userboxes on my page (the "does not appreciate tobacco smoke" one).

[edit] Belated Birthday Thanks
Hi Spring, long time no see (unexpected, and unwanted wikibreak)
Thanks for the cake and the halo. Cake looked great, as was the kind thought. When your birthday rolls around, I guess I'll have to get you a spring, right? (A spring for Springeragh, you see? :P)
Thanks again mate, Thε Halo Θ 12:07, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
PS, nice green 'e' you have now. I like that a lot :) Thε Halo Θ 12:08, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hehe. >:D I'll have to adpot that as my "symbol" I guess. :P — $PЯINGεrαgђ 18:51, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] re: Trivial question
'Course not! It's pronounced like 'disaster'. I figured it would be a little hard for Americans to understand that, seeing as you guys actually pronounce the 'r' at the end, whereas we don't :) (TBC got it, but he's just strange like that :p) It comes from the license plate of a really sweet Audi TT I used to see driving around my home town about 5 years ago. When the time came to get an e-mail address (yes, at 13... I was a late bloomer), I couldn't think of anything very exciting, and just decided to work that into my name :) So if you see a riana_dzasta on any other forums, it's probably me too.
Hope that answers your question... you probably learned more than you wanted to, anyway :) Hope you're doing OK? riana_dzasta 23:22, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's funny. :D Even funnier than my name, "joke"! (And we all know that no one has a better username than I!) :P — $PЯINGεrαgђ 03:23, 17 October 2006 (UTC) (And just for the record, it's pronounced like it sounds in English: spring' e rag, with the r rolled or flapped if possible. :)
Hah, no, I wouldn't use something Indian here... way too hard to spell :) My last name is about 15 letters long, so that gives you some idea!
Thanks for the support on my talk page, by the way, it means so much. I am still interested in helping the guy, but what he's doing right now is, well, trolling. riana_dzasta 04:07, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hey! No interrupting me while I'm looking for barnstars! :P — $PЯINGεrαgђ 04:08, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Is it... Springeragh with a hard 'g'? As in bag? Or to rhyme with 'ray'? riana_dzasta 07:22, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Um, kind of…come to think of it, I never thought about pronouncing my own username! But yeah, kind of a mix between the hard g and the "h" sound. — $PЯINGεrαgђ 14:48, 17 October 2006 (UTC) (Although in Irish Gaelic, it's way different. But I won't bore you with that.)</small :)
[edit] New Song!
Hii!
I am back with another song..! Although this time it was only me and my brother. I played the guitar (everything including the rhythm and the solo :-P and my bro wrote the lyrics and also did the vocals. the songs called Out of Focus. Give it a listen if ya can and leave your thoughts on it. :-)

Thanks a lot!
Cheers!
P.S.: I didnt wanna clutter your talk page by pasting the lyrics even though they are a little hard to understand due to the quality of the recording. Gimme a shout if you want the lyrics or if you have any problems while listening. Thanks a lot again! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jayant412 (talk • contribs).
[edit] Userpage
Lol! Didn't realised that my userpage was watched by people! Well, Will says he's having a go at fixing it. Let's see what he can come up with it :) I'm sure he'll do a great job, I'm looking forward to the result. Now I have to come up with what to say if I don't like it. :p Kidding! riana_dzasta 23:59, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

What kind of code do you have at present? What patterns? -- Tawker 03:36, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

- Well, I really have no idea. I don't really know how to explain it on a technical level, but after looking here, I can see kind of what each .py does, but the only one I really found that edits articles is this one. Sorry if I'm not making any sense. :| — $PЯINGεrαgђ 04:38, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Umm, an antivandalbot is likely not the best one to start with.... you might want to start w/ something a little less complex (the bot uses both IRC and Wikipedia pages at once) -- Tawker 04:53, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] about your userpage
I think it would be better if you avoided the extra step of having to click on the upper stars, and just have a regular userpage. It's nice that you show your patriotism, but maybe you can just display a smaller flag on your page. The sooner you do this before an RfA, the better. Another thing, you probably know this, but the fact that your userspace edits greatly outnumber your mainspace edits will not look good. The quality of mainspace edits makes a big difference too. Have you written any artcles from scratch, or greatly improved them, or are the majority of your mainspace edits just simple vandalism reverts? Sorry to sound so harsh.
I didn't have mistype anything on my talk page, but after reading your message, I decided to split that sentence into two separate sentences. I hope you like the new look. Thanks for your feedback, and it's nice to hear from you. --Kyoko 13:03, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea (maybe in the place of the Esperanza flag I have there now).
- About the edits…I did know that, but it's still good to have someone call me on it once in a while. I am trying to get my main edits up (200 as of now I believe, which surprised me), and actually I have created two stubs, but I'm creating a list in my sandbox. As for user space edits…926 as of now shows the addiction of my metapedian side. :| — $PЯINGεrαgђ 15:13, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- It's OK to have a lot of user edits, it's just that people who are up for adminship face a lot of scrutiny, and are generally under the expectation that they have made significant contributions towards the encyclopedia.
-
- As for my record, my latest results are:
- (main) 734
- Talk 126
- User 412
- User talk 576
- Template 5
- Category 2
- Wikipedia 232
- Wikipedia talk 37
- Portal 5

- I've worked primarily in the areas of anime, literature, and most recently, medicine. I'm most proud of my contributions to Norwegian Wood (novel), which was a single paragraph when I first saw it, and is now much more after I wrote the character list and story summary. Of my 734 mainspace edits, I would guess that maybe 300 or so of those were major edits. In that sense, I guess I would be closer to adminship than you, but the position doesn't appeal to me.--Kyoko 15:33, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- Wow. That is an impressive article (yeah, I know I'm breaking WP:TOE ). About edits though, my conjecture is that once I get ≈1000 main edits, my user, user talk, and project edits will be over 2000 each. :| (I hope by then I'll have enough major edits to balance out.) — $PЯINGεrαgђ 16:59, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for your praise. I've written several others if you are interested in looking. You should also be aware of this other edit counter, which does a more precise breakdown of what articles you have most frequently edited. I have it included on my list of useful links under "Edit counts 2". I'm not sure how it classifies edits. For example, 367 of your coffee lounge edits are considered "Wikipedia" edits, while 10 coffee lounge edits are considered "Wikipedia talk edits".

- I don't know if I know more about classical music than you. I did look your list, and it seems as if you like piano music. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. I generally prefer music with violin or cello, myself. My thing is that I know a little bit about a wide range of areas, and a whole lot within a few areas (I'm talking about in general, not just about music).

- Totally unrelated, but I have a question about changing my username. As it says on my page, I'm slightly dismayed that my username is shared by a lot of other people on different forums who are very different from me. I was wondering if you lose your edit count and article attributions if you change your name. I'm asking just in case I do decide to change it to something more unique. Does this count as a separate topic on your talk page? Thanks. --Kyoko 20:58, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- I do prefer piano music a little bit over other instruments, comsidering that I am learning the piano (and getting better, I hope, but possibly at the expense of my guitar skill), but I also have most of the other musical instruments of the orchestra on my watchlist as well. In the case of this list, I saw the list of symphonies by key and got kind of jealous. ;) I only wish I had some recordings of the red-linked ones, though.

- Well, at Wikipedia:Changing username, you can enter "Please change <this username> to <that username>. Thank you" and a bureaucrat (usually Essjay from what I've seen) will do it for you, and your edits, etc. will not change at all, but you must move your page, for example User:Tachikoma to User:Kyoko. Hope that helps. :) — $PЯINGεrαgђ 04:20, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

- I tend to prefer string instruments, perhaps because I play (or rather, played) the violin as a child, and not very well. I was a lot more impatient when I was younger, so not being able to play well within a short time frustrated me. I hardly remember a thing about how to actually play. I'll keep on thinking about a potential username change. The unfortunate thing is that name changes aren't allowed on French Wikipedia, so unless if they actually make the single login for all Wikipedias a reality, I'll be stuck with Tachikoma over there. --Kyoko 13:25, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] some other major contributions
Hi there, I forgot to mention that I've contributed a lot to The Count of Monte Cristo. The article was initially fairly well developed, but missing things like a character list and some important details before several of us did a lot of work on it.
I've also done a fair amount on medical articles, especially relating to pulmonary hypertension. I've created or expanded articles on some of the medicines used in its treatment such as beraprost, iloprost, bosentan, treprostinil (that I'm currently on, BTW) and the pulmonary diagnostic test known as a ventilation/perfusion scan.
I'm also in the process of writing articles about lung transplantation and the related lung allocation score. The current link to lung transplants is merely a redirect to organ transplants in general, and I think that's wrong. I would appreciate feedback on my drafts, because I want them to be pretty well developed before I put them online. Thanks!--Kyoko 05:38, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Wow, those are pretty good too. I can't suggest anything about the LAS, particularly because I don't know anything about it, and the only thing I can say about the transplant article is that it needs a few <br>s. But apart from that, they both look like they are ready to be put in the main space! — $PЯINGεrαgђ 19:56, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Hello, good to hear from another classical music lover. And no, I didn't choose my list of favourite composers because they were German. It's rather more the other way around, since I became interested in learning German because my favourite composers were German and Austrian. Heimstern Läufer 00:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] working on a new userpage design for next month
I forgot to mention that I'm currently working on a modified version of my userpage, shown here. I would like people to understand what depression is like, but at the same time, I don't want to freak out new Wikipedians that I might welcome, hence the attempt at a redesign. I'm still figuring things out. --Kyoko 15:41, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Just let you know that my new userpage is now online. Please let me know if you think that de-emphasizing the depression essay was a good move. Thanks. --Kyoko 16:40, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

- Well, I don't really know, and I don't want to sound pompous by overguessing. ;) I have played about ten of Chopin's easiest nocturnes, and I'm going to tackle the Liebesträume by Liszt, but as of now that may be ahead of my level. — $PЯINGεrαgђ 15:16, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
