This is my first article, so be gentle. I've hunted around for as much info as I can find and there's not that much info about these available. I've gotten the most information from a homeless man I spoke with. I've hosted a spodi and know how they work but info like the origins and the exact spelling is hard to come by.

Anyway, my formatting is attrocious but I think I made it decently readable.

Eight minutes between making it and it getting put up for deletion, lame.

Anyway, I grabbed a couple of links: http://troysilah.tripod.com/spodie.html http://paganfish.20m.com/photo2.html

Also, I pulled out the recipe for encyclopedic sake but because there's so little about spodies elsewhere I'll leave the recipe here.

example spodi recipe: 1 large watermelon 10 oranges 5 two-liters of 7up 6 containers of frozen juice mix 4 fifths of vodka

ball the watermellon, peel seperate and cut the oranges, then mix all the ingredients in a 5 gallon container(new trash can) and stir thoroughly. Let sit at least 30 minutes. makes aprox. 4 gallons at 11% alcohol.

How is Spodi any different from Jungle Juice, Hairy Buffalo, Helen Keller Punch, Wop, or any of the other infinite names for everclear + fruit + juice in a communal container?

I've known a version of Spodi as Yucka, the fruit (oranges, limes, lemons, watermelon) were mixed with lime flavored vodka into a large bowl, then suger was added to sweeten the mixture. You were offered a cup, but most went for the bowl.

The difference between Spodi or Yucka and Jungle Juice is that Jungle Juice is made from orange concentrate and primarily rum, but it can change depending on what college campus or even what fraternity you belong to.

this is rediculas, i nominate that jungle juice be merged into this page

[edit] Learn to Spell

I believe that this page is worthy as its own entity, as it has its own rediffernence and is a unique and non-reproducible singularity (see my profile for a discussion of differnence). I can also sympathize with your frustration with the moderators of our most reliable Wikipedia; I have had several articles which have been wiped from the website.

[edit] Merging

This article should, in my opinion, be merged into Jungle Juice. That name is much more generic.

  • I've also only heard it mentioned as Jungle Juice or a (derivative of that). I don't know if a merge is warranted at the moment, but I think a more generic term needs to be found before moving the articles around. Radagast83 07:27, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I've only heard it described as "Spodi" or a derivative. The different terms are regional. If there was a dominant term that covered all of these drinks, that would be great -- but I don't know of one. ManekiNeko | Talk 00:40, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
