Spooning is the act of two people lying on their sides, with one person's front to the other person's back, such that they fit together in a manner similar to spoons. Spooning can be a non-sexual form of physical intimacy, an act of cuddling before or after sex, or a sex position in its own right.
To differentiate between the sex position and the sensual act of Spooning, the sexual form is sometimes referred to as the Spoons sex position as detailed in Jean Rogiere's "The Little Book of Sex".
The act of spooning does not require either of the participants to be naked for the experience of physical intimacy.
