Spook Country is William Gibson's newest novel. According to amazon.com it will be released on August 7, 2007. The publisher will be Penguin Putnam.

Gibson announced the book October 6, 2006 on his blog. It is unknown yet whether Spook Country will be set into the same world as Gibson's previous book Pattern Recognition. Fragments of the novel have been posted non-sequentially on Gibson's blog for some time now, and have led to much speculation on the content and plot of the novel.

[edit] Themes

The book will take a multilayered approach similar to Gibson's novels prior to 2003's Pattern Recognition and will treat of themes relating to espionage, the nature of media, esoteric martial artistry as well as familiar themes from the author's previous novels such as emergent phenomena, and the sociocultural effects of technology.
