Spokane House
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1810, British-Canadian North West Company's David Thompson established a small trading post where the Spokane and Little Spokane Rivers meet in what is now Washington state. When the Hudson's Bay Company took over North West Company in 1821, they abandoned Spokane House because it was too far from the Columbia River. They established a new post - Fort Colville. Archeological digs were carried out at the Spokane House site in 1950-53 and 1962-63.
