[edit] wikiquette/wikipedia:civility
Do not make abusive edit summaries. Do not use foul language. Sam [Spade] 02:03, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- I wouldn't worry too much about Sam Spade telling you to use wikiquette, since he's being extremely hypocritical for doing so. Just look through his archived pages to see what I'm talking about... But hey, welcome to wikipedia (I'm guessing you're somewhat new since I haven't seen your name around), and thanks for livening things up a bit! millerc 07:25, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

- In this case, Sam is on target - Spleeman called Sam a "motherfucker" on his talk page, and has been using abusive language. Snowspinner 22:06, Jun 27, 2004 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not sure what your Sam Spade page is for, but you might want to add the Jean Chretien dispute from last November (starting with http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Jean_Chr%E9tien&diff=1710202&oldid=1710189). Adam Bishop 00:26, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Pantheism
I was editing an article in attempts that it might educate someone. You might like to try it sometime, when your not too busy stirring up trouble ;)
Sam [Spade] 06:41, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Yes I understand you were editing an article. I'm more interested in the discussion, which appears to have been a little contentious (you in particular seemed to be getting upset about something here). I just want to understand what the contention was about exactly. If you have any useful info it is certainly welcome. Spleeman

- User:Bcorr had recently been harassing me about my name change (popular sport at that time), and so I wasn't thrilled to hear him suggesting an article I had extensively edited and he had never edited be rewritten. The part your prob not understanding is PV's involvement. He was an anon editor who I had tried to reform, but who turned out to be solely interested in causing trouble. Why does that sound familiar? [edit] User:Spleeman/Sam Spade
You might like to review User_talk:Mirv#The_Case_of_Spade, you are not the first to try to dig dirt on me, but thank God I'm not one to commit policy violations. If you do happen to scrape something up, it's sure to be some sort of minor slip up from last year or whatnot, and not worth the trouble. The worst thing I've ever done is that one time I swore at bcorr, and he had been harassing me for about a week. Out of my over 10,000 edits, I'd say thats a pretty good record. Have a look at how 172 is doing at trying to rake up mud on me @ Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#Comments_and_votes_by_arbitrators_.280.2F4.2F1.2F0.29.
Sam [Spade] 07:00, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks. The stuff on Mirv's page is interesting. I'd already seen 172's case against you though, and I agree it's rather weak. It doesn't look like he even put much work into it. I discovered the swearing incident recently as well. Don't you think it's just a tad hypocritical of you to have done that, and then to have criticized me for doing pretty much the same thing just a few months later...?
- Anyway, in case you were wondering, I started the User:Spleeman/Sam Spade page in order to document your activities on wikipedia, which I believe reveal a number of troubling behavioral patterns. The beauty of the wiki is that you can never erase your sins. Sure, you may have managed to avoid too many outright "policy violations", but there is still a wealth of evidence available showing clearly that you are a biased individual who is incapable of separating opinion from fact, and that you are overall an extremely disruptive presence on the wiki. Currently, I am not planning on doing anything specific with this evidence; I just thought it would be nice to have around, just in case. I can assure you I'm not doing this maliciously, but as a defensive measure.
- Finally, I am aware not all of the stuff on the page is up-to-date. I haven't really gone through it all as thoroughly as I would like to, as I am still in the process of collecting the raw data. I understand some of it might be BS. Feel free to continue to submit information if you think I'm misinterpreting something. -- Spleeman 08:23, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)
What is hypocritical about saying "The worst thing I've ever done"? As far as I know the only purpose to you making this page is to make me feel appreciated, and to inspire me to meticulously inspect every last one of your edits in return (good luck trying that w me, unlike yourself I have over 500 edits ;) I'll let you know if I find anything. Sam [Spade] 06:01, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- User talk:Spleeman/Sam Spade... you do go on, don't you! This is going to take awhile, I'm going to take a break and actually edit an encyclopdia for awhile ;) Sam [Spade] 06:23, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Have fun. -- Spleeman 07:49, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I did, actually, thanx. I have a quick question. What is it about what your doing at User:Spleeman/Sam Spade that facilitates building an encyclopedia? Sam [Spade] 07:53, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Nationalism
Enforcing american spelling is a sign of nationalism, and would therefore seem to suggest your not an anarchist? Or perhaps your a "anarcho-nationalist"? ;p Sam [Spade] 08:06, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism
Please do not vandalise pages. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing.
Darrien 05:59, 2004 Aug 21 (UTC)
- It seems "vandalism" on wikipedia is a very relative concept. I would consider the insertion of POV rants in articles to be a form of vandalism. Unfortunately, some don't agree with this. So what you call "vandalism" was really just my attempt to highlight the idiocy of Sam Spade's fundamentalist anti-deletionism. The original text in question was inserted by a racist troll (please review his contributions). Additionally, it constituted a POV rant that did not belong in the article. So I removed it, but then Sam put it back in, admonishing me not to "delete large blocks of text". Well, this is an insane policy. Just what's in those "large blocks of text" does make a difference. To prove this, I put in the "Bunny Rabbit Activity". Hey, it might not have anything to do with affirmative action, but once it's in, you can't delete it, 'cause it's a "large block of text"!!!!! Obviously, I'm not serious; however, now that I've proven my point, I'm returning the article back to the last version before the troll attack. -- Spleeman 06:18, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Please don't disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. If you have an issue with Sam's POV, get a consensus on that on the talk page, or take it to WP:RFC. Adding nonsense to the article isn't going to help your cause. Angela. 18:46, Aug 21, 2004 (UTC)
Spleeman, you might like to read the Wikipedia:Vandalism page to better understand what constitutes vandalism. Especially note that NPOV violations are not vandalism. And please don't take this the wrong way, I don't doubt your good intentions on Wikipedia. I just think it will help you to be more familiar with policy (the vandalsim one, as well as ones that Angela pointed you toward), as the community has a tendency to accept those that aren't disruptive, even if not everyone agrees on articles. —siroχo 23:11, Aug 21, 2004 (UTC)
- The fact that you all assume I am not "familiar" with the vandalism policy is very annoying. I knew exactly what I was doing when I posted the "Bunny Rabbit Activity", and I have no regrets about it. In general, I have no desire to disrupt wikipedia or cause senseless vandalism. And so I apologize for any trouble this may have caused you. But in my normal life and on wikipedia I'm not afraid to break rules every once in a while for a purpose. And I'm not about to roll-over and let Sam Spade use anonymous trolls to get his POV into articles. There's been a slough of troll attacks on political/racism-related articles recently, and whenever someone tries to revert these attacks, Sam Spade steps in and defends the troll's editions. Hmmmmm..... -- Spleeman 23:46, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I have warned you once before about personal attacks. Find a way to express yourself differently. Sam [Spade] 00:38, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- there was no personal attack. -- Spleeman 00:52, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- As I said, I have no doubt of your (Spleeman's) good intentions. In fact, thanks to your diligence, I've begun reading through some of the articles in question, and have already made an NPOV edit to Race and intelligence. Please don't take my referral to policy as an insult. I just wanted to make sure you did know the policy, as that is better for everyone involved. Now that you've pointed out these articles to me, you'll have help in keeping them NPOV. That said, i'm not sure what personal attack Sam was referring to. Sam, please do not attempt to bend policy to bring bad name to a user you've had previous conflicts with. —siroχo 00:47, Aug 22, 2004 (UTC)
I'm not about to roll-over and let Sam Spade use anonymous trolls to get his POV into articles?
I don't find your pandering to policy violators amusing, Siroxo. Please refrain from making grotesque caricatures of my statements and intentions. Sam [Spade] 00:55, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Restrain yourselves
I’d kindly ask everyone involved, especially Spleeman to use more restraint and better judgment instead going into revert conflicts. Spleeman, adding things "Bunny Rabbit Activity" to articles and calling users with abrasive names [2] certainly doesn’t help your cause, but it might land you on Requests for Arbitration which could in turn get you banned. I ask everyone not to use articles as some kind of a personal animosity battleground. GeneralPatton 12:41, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I make the offer to Spleeman that if he wants to debate me personally, please make use of my email or multiple IM accounts to do so, rather than the wikipedia. Here is my contact info: User:Sam_Spade/Info. Sam [Spade] 17:47, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
