Talk:Splunk
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following sentence in the second paragraph of the article may be out of place:
- Data patterns in its search results can be tagged, anonymized, and shared with the user community (somewhat like Flickr photos) as a means of sharing knowledge about IT troubleshooting.
This appears to be describing Splunk Base (which I just added -- or changed from Splunk Wiki -- at the tail of the article).
It's my understanding (from a very quick grok) that the main Splunk product is a standalone product that references only system data on the local system, whereas Splunk Base is a community database. Frappyjohn 08:10, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The name Splunk
How is the name "splunk" a reference to data mining, as claimed in the article? (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Splunk&oldid=70250565) --HelgeStenstrom 11:04, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
