Splendora is a city in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,475 at the 2000 census.

In the 1870s, the town was founded by the name of Cox's Switch.

Splendora is located at GR1.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,275 people, 434 households, and 352 families residing in the city. The population density was 233.3/km² (603.8/mi²). There were 470 housing units at an average density of 86.0/km² (222.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.82% White, 0.31% African American, 0.78% Native American, 1.10% Asian, 1.80% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.25% of the population.
There were 434 households out of which 46.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.5% were married couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.7% were non-families. 14.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.23.
In the city the population was spread out with 32.7% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $36,211, and the median income for a family was $41,917. Males had a median income of $31,063 versus $23,000 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,008. About 9.1% of families and 12.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.1% of those under age 18 and 9.7% of those age 65 or over.
