Splendid China (Shenzhen)

Splendid China (Chinese: 锦绣中华, Pinyin: Jinxiu Zhonghua) is the richest, most lively and comprehensive miniature area, which reflects the history, culture, art, ancient architecture as well as the customs and habits of various nationalities in China. It is one of the world's largest scenery parks in the amount of scenarios reproduced. The park is developed and managed by one of the major Travel and tourist corporation - The China Travel Services.
[edit] Location and Reaching there
It is situated by the picturesque Shenzhen Bay, is a tourist area of Oversea Chinese Town (OCT) in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone of China.
Splendid China can be reached by train (Line 1 of Shenzhen Metro) from Lo Wu metro station and takes around 35-40 minutes to reach. There are many buses and mini-buses which take you from Lo Wu. Bus number 101 and Mini-Bus 23 are couple of them. They take around 30 minutes to reach the park.

It condenses the highlights of the whole of the China into 30 hectares. Over 100 major tourist attractions have been miniaturized and the theme park is laid out according to the map of China. Most attractions have been reduced on a scale of 1 to 15. It is divided into Scenic Spot Area and Comprehensive Service Area. Splendid China is, so to speak, a world of flowers and greenery and a window for a glimpse of China's history and culture and tourist resources.
There are cars and trains to transport visitors around the park, making it possible to visit the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Temple of heaven, Three Gorges Dam, Potala Palace and the Terracotta Army in one day.
The park also hosts several shows depicting various events in Chinese History (e.g. a horse riding show depicting a battle led by Genghis Khan), Chinese Cultural Show, etc. Some of the shows are only performed on weekends.
Park entry cost is 120 Yuan for an Adult person. There are some concessionary entry tickets available for Elderly, Students and groups.

A Splendid China was also built in Orlando, Florida in 1993. It featured similar models of The Great Wall of China, Terra Cotta Warriors, The Forbidden City and Potala Palace. The park closed in 2003.
