Splash Day

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Splash Day is a gay and lesbian adult-oriented beach party in Galveston, Texas. Before becoming a predominantly gay themed event, the annual celebration was open to all, although still an attraction for gays[1]. On April 26, 2005, George W. Bush, unaware of the transformation, asked locals in Galveston if the event was still held. The prompting from the president, "Do you still have Splash Day?", elicited chuckles from the crowd. Bush, assuming a generational gap explained, "You have to be a baby boomer to know what I'm talking about." Unsure, Bush cautiously continued, "I'm not saying whether I came or not on Splash Day. I'm just saying, Do you have Splash Day?".
