Spit It Out is the first single released by alternative/nu-metal band Slipknot off their seft-titled second album. Their second single Wait and Bleed is thought by many fans to be their first single, but it was actually Spit It Out. The music video for "Spit It Out" is a parody of the movie The Shining.
Overall it is a swipe at the people who never thought they would amount to anything. It's chorus: "Spit it out! All you wannt do is drag me down. All I wanna do is stamp you out" reflects this. It also shows many of the aggressive, violent tendencies that also come out in songs such as 'Only One'.
During live performances, they do something they refer to as the 'Zero Bullsh*it'.This is shown in the "Duality" video. The only difference is in the video they do not crouch down. Near the end of the song there is a coda section where the music and singing (the lyrics being about people's doubts of their longevity) building up to a highly energetic section where Corey screams 'Fuck me, I'm all out of enemies' over and over. Before this begins. he tells the audience to crouch down- and screams and abuses them until they comply. He tells them to jump up when he says 'Jump the fuck up'. He says this at the end of the coda, replacing the line 'good enough, had enough'. This is an impressive sight to both witness and be a part of, and it has an effect of energising the mosh pit as well as the band.
