From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article refers to the British folk band. For the American jazz fusion band, see Spyro Gyra.
Spirogyra were a British folk/prog band active during the 1960s and 1970s. The original line-up consisted of Martin Cockerham (vocals/guitar), Barbara Gaskin (vocals), Steve Borrill (bass), and Julian Cusack (violin). Dave Mattacks (of Fairport Convention) played drums on all three albums as a guest.
Their first album proved to be very popular in the then upcoming new wave of British folk rock, and sold more than 200,000 copies.
