Spinster Stakes

The Juddmonte Spinster Stakes is a horse race for fillies and mares aged three or up. In October 2005, the Juddmonte was run for the fiftieth time at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky. It set at a distance of one and one-eighth miles and is a Grade I event with a purse of $500,000.
The Spinster, sponsored by Juddmonte Farms begnning in 2005, is a major prep for the Breeders' Cup Distaff and one of the most important weight-for-age stakes races exclusively for fillies and mares.
The fastest time run at its current Distance, 1:47, was set by three horses: Bayakoa in 1990, Banshee Breeze in 1998, and Keeper Hill in 1999. Princess Rooney won it in 1984, the Canadian champion, Glorious Song, in 1981, Susan's Girl in 1975 and 1973, Numbered Account in 1972, Gallant Bloom in 1969, and Bowl of Flowers in 1961. In 1957, in the second running of the Spinster, Pucker Up placed, and Searching showed.
