Spinning newspaper
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A spinning newspaper is frequently shown in television and movies and is used as a transition device. At the conclusion of a story arc an image of a rapidly spinning newspaper will be displayed. The newspaper will then stop spinning and reveal a headline that reflects what happened between to the story arcs in the story, preparing the audience for the scene that follows. The spinning newspaper is considered to an overused cliché by many people and has been lampooned in shows such as The Simpsons and Robot Chicken where spinning newspapers that have headlines about spinning newspapers have been shown.
