Spinning Into Butter is a play by American playwright Rebecca Gilman. The play, written in 1999, opened June 29, 2000 at the Lincoln Center in New York City.[1]

The play deals with a hate crime committed at a small college in New England, and how the dean, Sarah Daniels, deals with that and other issues of race.[1]

The film, announced in 2005, is currently in post-production, directed by Mark Brokaw and will star Sarah Jessica Parker, Miranda Richardson and Beau Bridges. Part of the film was filmed at Brooklyn College.
